Dave Melrose has a legendary personality. Once you’ve met him, you’ll never forget him. He has hundreds of friends thanks to his irreverent, loyal, concise, compassionate nature. He is known in many different contexts from years past:

As the fastest, most expert espresso drink maker at Old Town Pasadena’s Espresso Bar, hands-down
As a top-notch chess player with a quick wit
As a dedicated mountain biker with the scrapes to prove it
As a die-hard fan of certain loud bands
As a dear friend, mentor and trusted confidant to many

Dave founded the San Diego Chess Academy, a non-profit organization that employs 14 teachers to teach kids of all ages the wonders of chess. Dave has touched the lives of 2500 students in these school districts: Los Angeles, So. Pasadena, Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Oceanside, Escondido, San Diego, Carlsbad, Del Mar & Solano Beach.

He beat cancer once a few years ago, but now it’s back and worse than ever. We are trying to raise 300,000.00 for Gene-Targeted therapy, and we need your help. Whether you can attend the event, or donate goods or services, we guarantee that your contribution is deeply appreciated.
